Convicted Benton County felon already facing felony charges commits more felonies
A Benton County sex offender who took a plea deal in the middle of 2018 for a May Second Degree Sexual Assault charge remains jailed after an arrest this week for Battery, Aggravated Assault and Sexual assault according to information from the Benton County Sheriff Office.
August Defoe, , whom was taken into custody by the Bella Vista Police Department on Thursday, was sentenced to 120 months probation and 120 days in the county jail for his 2018 conviction and also had another arrest in 202 for being a felon in possession of a firearm.
The 2020 arrest is currently open in Benton County Circuit Court, but that violation had triggered a reopening of the 2018 conviction and Defoe was already facing revocation of his 120 month sentence from 2018. Subpoenas were issued for several witnesses in that case on April 1.
Judge A.J. Anglin set bail at $20,000 cash this week for Defoe.
A cursory search for Defoe in Arkansas databases for sex offenders on Saturday failed to produce any results.
