Collision involving motorcycle and car leaves one dead in rural Benton county over the weekend


A 30-year-old Bella Vista woman was killed and her 37-year-old companion was transported to an area hospital after a collision between a Harley Davidson XTC and a 2021 Dodge Charger on a rural stretch of Highway 43 at the intersecrion of Highway 102 in Benton County.


According to the Arkansas State Police Carmen Vaughn of Bella Vista was on the back of a northb0und 2018 Harley Davidson XTC driven by 37-year-old Dustin Simon when the Charger turned left from Highway 102. The motorcycle ran into the drivers side of the car and both Vaughn and Simons were ejected from the bike.


Vaughn was pronounce dead at the scene. Simons, also of Bella Vista, was transported to Washington Regional Medical Center. At least three other individuals were alo taken to area hospitals.


Trooper Britni Bynum reported clear weather and dry road conditions at the time of

the accident.


Vaughn's death was the 210th of the year 0n Arkansas roads and highways.
