Collision between two trucks in eastern Arkansas results in death of Mena woman on Tuesday



A sixty-nine year-old Mena woman died and two other people were injured on Tuesday when two trucks collided in the westbound land of I40 in rural Francis County in eastern Arkansas at 8:44 in the morning.


According to the Arkansas state Police, Bonnie G. Hutton died when the 2019 Freightliner she was a passenger in went into a ditch after it struck a 2015 Mack Truck that was changing lanes near mile marker 242. The Freightliner then ran off the roadway into the north ditch before coming to rest.


Hutton was pronounced dead at the scene while the driver of the freightliner, 59-year- old Charles G. Hutton of Mena, was taken to the Forrest City Medical Center for treatment of unspecified injuries.


In addition, 44-year-old Jennfer M. Dysert of Kimberling, Missouri, who was the driver of the Mack truck, was transported to the same medical facility for treatment of unknown injuries.


Responding stet trooper Tate Ledbetter noted dry roads and clear weather conditions at the time of the impact.


Hutton's death marks the 601st on Arkansas roads and highways in 2021,
