In April 2001, Richard Piersall, a 59-year-old clerk, was found shot to death in the back room of the Kum & Go convenience store in Wagoner, Oklahoma. He was working the overnight shift alone when he was killed.
The Wagoner Police Department and the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) investigated, but found little evidence. No surveillance footage or clear physical clues were available. It’s unknown if the motive was robbery or something else.
Despite interviewing locals and following leads, no suspect was identified, and the case went cold.
In 2021, the OSBI featured Piersall’s case on their Cold Case Playing Cards as the 10 of hearts. These cards, distributed in Oklahoma prisons, aim to generate new tips. The OSBI still seeks information and provides a hotline (1-800-522-8017) and email (tips@osbi.ok.gov) for tips.
The case remains unsolved, with no answers about who killed Richard Piersall or why.
