Dale Deane Allinson

In the early morning hours of July 19, 2002, 76-year-old Dale Deane Allinson was at his residence in the Piney Bay area of Johnson County when one or more intruders entered the home and shot him.  He managed to seek help despite his injuries but succumbed to them three days later, on July 22, 2002.


The cause of death was gunshot wounds. The Arkansas State Police assisted the local investigation into the homicide.


Piney Bay is a rural, sparsely populated area near the Arkansas River, with homes often situated in wooded or remote settings. Allinson lived alone in this quiet community, and there were no immediate reports of witnesses to the break-in or the shooting.


Investigators have not publicly disclosed a motive, such as robbery or a personal dispute, and no suspects have been identified or charged in the more than two decades since the crime occurred.


The case is listed among the Arkansas State Police cold cases, defined as homicides or long-term missing persons investigations that remain unsolved after two years. It remains open, with authorities continuing to seek information from the public
