Cold Case Files: Colby Dority remains Haskell County's only official missing person according to law enforcement

The federal missing persons database lists him as NamUs case MP68443. The entry was created April 12, 2021, thirteen months after Colby Randall Dwain Dority was last accounted for in Stigler.

The date of last contact is March 6, 2020. He was sixteen. White male. Five feet three inches. About 130 pounds. Brown hair. Hazel eyes. No clothing description was ever attached to the public record in a way a stranger could use.

That is not a thin lead. That is the case as the public is allowed to see it.

Stigler sits in eastern Oklahoma, county seat country, timber and pasture and two-lane blacktop, close enough to the Arkansas River Valley that Fort Smith is the city people name when they mean a hospital or a bus station. On a Friday in early March 2020, the country was still pretending the coming shutdown was someone else’s problem.

A teenager could leave a house and the people who loved him could tell themselves he would be back before dark. He was not.

No agency has published what he was doing that day. No agency has named a companion, a vehicle, a last text, a school schedule, or a place he was headed. Independent case pages that scrape NamUs and local law enforcement listings repeat the same measurements and stop.

In February 2024 a social post still asked whether anyone had seen him. The writer used his full name, said he would be twenty, and pointed people back to the NamUs number.

The replies were prayers. No confirmed sighting followed in any news account that can be found.

The investigating agency remains the Haskell County Sheriff’s Office in Stigler. The number on the listings is 918-967-2400. Sheriff Tim Turner’s office has carried the file since the beginning.

Rural departments do not run press conferences for every missing juvenile. They also do not usually let a sixteen-year-old stay a paragraph for six years unless the facts are sealed, the family asked for quiet, or there was never much to work with.

He would be twenty-two now. The height and weight in the national system are still a boy’s. The eyes are still hazel because no later photograph has replaced them.

Anyone who saw Colby Dority on March 6, 2020, or believes they have seen him since, is asked to call the sheriff’s office in Haskell County.
