Clarksville man arrested for rape and sexual assault of thirteen year-old victim
A forty-year-old Clarksville man is in custody this morning after a warrant was issued for him in the January 21 Rape and Sexual Assault of a Minor.
Sources say Chad Leon Melton turned himself in on Saturday morning to face the music on the Class Y and Class B felonies and was booked into the Johnson County Detention Center at 5:17 am. The arrest stems from crimes committed in January and the investigation resulted in the arrest warrant being issued on Thursday.
Today in Fort Smith has learned from court records the victim was a thirteen-year-old female. As always, all information for the affidavit for warrant in the case hve been sealed by the courts to protect the identity of the victim.
Court records also indicate Melton was the subject of protection order filed against0 him by his then-wife in July of last year. That request for a protection order was later dismissed by the petitioner.
Melton is currently being held without bond awaiting as bond hearing. A court date has been for September 9 in the case.
