Fort Smith, AR – In accordance with Civil Service Rules, The Fort Smith Police Department is pleased to announce the promotions of three deserving officers who underwent a rigorous Assessment Center promotional process testing their knowledge, skills, and abilities as police leaders. It is our pleasure to recognize their commitment and service to our community.
Lieutenant Bill Hardin has been promoted to the role of Lieutenant-Support Services.
Assistant Commander. Lt. Hardin began his career with the department in 2009 and has since served in various capacities, including Patrol, the Criminal Investigations Division as a Street Crimes, Property Crimes, and Persons Crimes Detective, and as a Sergeant in the Patrol-Special Operations Division.
He has also served as a crisis negotiator and a valued member of the FSPD SWAT Team. Lt. Hardin said that he looks forward to his new responsibilities within the Support Services Division, which handles matters such as internal communications, administrative duties, and training. One of Lieutenant Hardin's projects will be establishing a new Employee Wellness unit for the department.
Sergeant Brent Tobias-Arriola has been promoted and will serve as Sergeant in Troop 3. Sgt. Tobias-Arriola joined the department in 2017 after earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from UAFS. Over the years, he has served in Patrol, the Criminal Investigations Division, and the Property Crimes Unit.
Sgt. Tobias-Arriola is also a member of the FSPD SWAT Team.
He is deeply committed to his family, cherishing time with his wife, who also serves as a detective with the Department, and their three children.
He credits his family, especially his mother, for her guiding influence over his life.
Sergeant Tom Brashier has been promoted to Sergeant in Troop 2. Sgt. Brashier has been with the Fort Smith Police Department since 2017 and has served primarily in Troop 2 throughout his career.
He is an advanced collision investigator and a longtime member of the department’s honor guard. Sgt. Brashier also brings extensive military experience, having served 31 years in active duty, the Army Reserves, and the National Guard, where he holds the rank of E-7 as a platoon sergeant. Sgt. Brashier is a proud resident of Spiro, Oklahoma, where he enjoys spending time with his wife of 13 years and their daughter, Ceara, who is pursuing a biology degree at UAFS.

Tobias-Arriola, and Sgt. Brashier on their well-deserved promotions and look forward to their continued service in these new roles."
