A Peggs (Cherokee County) woman who shot and killed her domestic partner " in a moment of passion" has been sentenced to federal prison.
Wanda Kay Friday, 53, was given a three-year prison sentence for voluntary manslaughter in Indian Country in 2023 after entering a guilty plea.
Investigators say that on November 25, 2022, Friday shot the victim, who was not named in any of the documents from the courts, following an argument.
The crime took place in Oklahoma's Eastern District, inside the borders of the Cherokee Nation Reservation.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office conducted an investigation that led to Friday's charges.
Commencing on August 23, 2024, Friday will serve a non-paroleable sentence.
