According to information from the Fort Smith Police Department, a high speed chase involving the Arkansas State Police ended in a fatality Friday morning after a suspect vehicle crashed and the driver died as a result of his injuries.
At some point during the chase, the suspect vehicle and the ASP cruiser made contact. The resulting wreck, which happened near Ben Geren Regional Park on Zero Street caused the death of the suspect and injured the pursuing trooper.
The name of the deceased and the identity of the trooper has not been released at this time.\
