Charleston man killed Tuesday morning in one-vehicle crash on State Highway 22 in Barling



The Arkansas State Police say a Charleston man died in an early morning crash Tuesday on State Highway 22 near Gate 19 Road within the Barling city limits.


According to the ASP preliminary report, 35- year-old Joshua Linville was driving a 2016 Chevrolet westbound on Arkansas 22 when he ran off the north side of the roadway striking a fence and several small trees.


The vehicle reentered the roadway after the impact and crossed over the pavement to the ditch on the south side of the highway. Upon striking the ditch bank and hitting another fence the vehicle came to rest on the west side of the road facing south.


Linville was transported to Mercy-Fort Smith where he was later declared dead.


ASP trooper Diego Araujo noted clear weather conditions and dry pavement at the time of the crash, which occurred at 6:44 a,m.
