Career criminal back behind bars for failing to register as a sex offender in Oklahoma

A 49-year-old Fort Smith man whose latest address on file was in the 9700 block of Bryn Mawr Circle in Fort Smith, was arrested Wednesday in Sequoyah County and charged with four counts of Failure to Comply with the Sex Offender Registration Act.

Anthony Shane Lockhart, who has been a frequent subject of stories on Today in Fort Smith in the past several years, was booked into the Sequoyah County jail on July 3 at 12:33 p.m. and remains in custody as of Friday morning.

Lockhart is no stranger to the inside of a jail cell having been arrested and incarcerated on numerous occasions dating back to at least 2003 and including a number of violations for failing to register as a sex offender.

Lockhart has been arrested in the past for crimes that involved possession of a controlled substance, felony possession of paraphernalia, possession with intent to deliver, unlawful use of a computer to obtain money, computer fraud, and second-degree burglary.

Lockhart has also been non-discriminating where he commits his crimes having been arrested numerous times in both Arkansas and Oklahoma.

It appears the original arrest of Lockhart that put him on the Sex OffenderRegistry was a February 2003 conviction for sexual assault in the second degree. Incredibly, Arkansas Court Connect only shows a 60-day sentence after he was found guilty on that charge.
