Car crash in Mena Friday night results in death of 67-year-old man
The 67-year-old driver of a 2003 Dodge Dakota that ran off the road and struck a tree in Polk County died as the result of injuries in the fiery crash Friday night, according to information from the Arkansas State Police.
An ASP preliminary report filed on the state website on Sunday says that Jerry Don Lane of Mena was eastbound on Highway 375 in Mena when he attempted to pass an eastbound 2008 Ford when the incident occurred. The truck hit a tree and burst into flames.
The driver of the second vehicle as not inured.
Senior Corporal Mike Thomas reported conditions werre clear and the roadway was dry at the time of the fatality, which was the 63rd Arkansas highway death of 2021.
