Boone County head-0n accident on rural area of US Highway 62 kills 53-year-old St. Joe woman

A head-on collision on US 62 at Sharp Court in rural Boone County resulted in the death of a 53-year-old woman on Monday, at approximately 3:00 p.m., according to the Arkansas State Police.
Gianella Edelen, of Saint Joe,was driving a 1996 Toyota Tacoma westbound on US 62 when she crossed the centerline and collided with an eastbound 2014 Dodge Ram.
The impact occurred front-to-front, causing the Dodge Ram to veer off the north side of the roadway and down an embankment. Edelen’s vehicle came to rest partially in both the eastbound and westbound lanes, facing south, while the Dodge Ram stopped on the north side of the highway, facing east.
Edelen was pronounced deceased at the scene. No injuries were reported for the occupants of the Dodge Ram.
The weather was cloudy, and the road was dry at the time of the crash.
Edelen’s body was transported to the Boone County Morgue, and her next of kin have been notified. The incidentwas investigated by Trooper Ty Roberson of the Arkansas State Police.
This fatal crash was the 155th in Arkansas in 2025.
