Benton County man arrested on Rape, Sexual Indecency with Child charges


A northwest Arkansas man who has been pending a mental evaluation stemming from a November 2020 Washington County arrest finds himself back behind bars after a Friday arrest by the Rogers Police Department on a Rape and Sexual Indecency with a Child charge along with a Failure to Appear warrant.


According to booking information from the Benton County Detention Center, 47-year-old James Edward White was booked into the BCDC on Friday on the three separate felony charges. White was also arrested in Washington County back in November of last year on two counts of Rape and bond was set at $25,000. His trial date for that arrest was set for July 23 of this year.


The warrant on that case was issued on December 4, 2020 and White was arrested On December 10. Whites attorney informed the court of a notice of intent to reply on the defense of Mental Illness or Defect and the court has been going through the machinations of an order that was filed the same day for aa mental evaluation.


The arrest on Friday was on a Benton County warrant The inclusion of a Sexual Indecency with a Child charge indicates that arrest may be for another set of crimes.


White remains jailed on a no-bond hold as of 6AM Sunday, January 31.
