Authorities to use investigation results to determine fate of shooter in Poteau domestic incident

The results of an investigation into the shooting death of a Poteau man in the early hours of Tuesday morning will be turned over to the District Attorney's office for determination of prosecution once completed, according to sources out of LeFlore County.


Police have labeled the fatal shooting of 55-year-old David Edwards in Poteau as resulting from self-defense during a domestic incident A 56-year-old Poteau woman was questioned and released after police were called to a residence on Vista Grande, where Edwards was located dead inside the home.

. The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation and the Oklahoma Medical Examiner's office have responded to the scene and will be assisting local authorities with the probe.

Edward's shooting marks the second deadly shooting in Poteau within the last week.
