


A Fort Smith man whose involvement in drug activity dates back to 2008 in Sebastian County found himself headed back to prison on a 12-year sentence after court proceedings last week in Sebastian County District Court.
Kevin Wayne Clifton, 45, who was arrested in August in what turned into an eventual sixteen-count mixture of felonies and misdemeanors, was allowed to plead to one count of fleeing and avoid a petition to revoke for previous crimes that would have meant more time in prison.
Clifton, who had done the previous prison stretches in prison for drug-related activities in 2008, 2012, and 2013 was sentenced as a habitual offender as well, The August arrest included charges for Absconding, Fleeing and three counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Minor, and stemmed from a high-speed chase involving the Arkansas State Police.
Clifton has been incarcerated in the Sebastian County Detention Center since August 27 of this year.
