A 39-year-old Bella Vista woman was killed Sunday night after crashing her vehicle while fleeing from police, according to the Bella Vista Police Department and Arkansas State Police reports.

The incident began around 8:20 p.m. when officers responded to a 911 call reporting an intoxicated driver leaving the scene of a disturbance near Ridge Road. Officers located the vehicle--a 2017 Honda Accord--traveling east on Highland Road and attempted a traffic stop. The driver, later identified as Angelina Marie Cesena, reportedly accelerated away from officers.

At approximately 9:10 p.m., Cesena’s vehicle left the roadway near the intersection of Highland Road and Leona Drive, struck a tree, and overturned.

Emergency responders transported her to Mercy Bella Vista, where she was pronounced dead. No other injuries were reported.

The crash occurred under clear skies and dry road conditions, and no other vehicles were involved according to Officer Thomas Hale of the Bella Vista Police Department

The Arkansas Department of Public Safety confirmed that Cesena was the sole occupant of the vehicle. Her body was released to the Benton County Coroner, and next of kin were notified.
