ASP releases name of motorcyclist killed on September 12 near Central Mall

The Arkansas State Police has released the name of the motorcyclist who was killed earlier in the month in an accident that occurred September 21 at the intersection of Waldron Road and Duncan Street adjacent to Central Mall.

According to an ASP preliminary report released late last week, 24-year-old Garrett Degenhart of Fort Smith died in the accident when the 2006 Honda he was driving northbound on Waldron was struck by a 2022 Cadillac that was exited the Central Mall parking lot that was driven by an unnamed driver. The motorcycle exited the roadway to come to rest on the east sidewalk of Waldron Road.

Degenhart was declared dead at the scene.

Officer Casey L. Cagle of the Fort Smith Police Department worked the accident and noted clear weather and dry road conditions at the time of the impact.

Please correct the following information:

  1. The accident occurred on 9/21/22. It looks like someone fat fingered the date.

  2. Garrett (V2) was headed North on Waldren rd. when he was struck by the vehicle (V1) exiting the mall parking lot.

  3. If you want the name of the person who hit him, let me know.
