A 21-year-old Pottsville woman is dead and a 25-year-old Pope County man was taken to the hospital following a one-vehicle accident Thursday morning at 12:57 p.m. on a rural stretch of Highway 105 South in Pope County.
According to a preliminary report by the Arkansas State Police, Chelsey Mullen was a passenger in a 2001 Dodge driven by Shane A. Walker. Walker lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a curve and spun counterclockwise into the westbound lane.
The momentum took the Dodge into the north ditch line, which then went up a slight embankment before striking a tree on the passenger side. The car then flipped over and came to rest on its top.
Cpl. Chris Bussey investigated the accident for the Arkansas State Police and noted conditions were clear and the roadway was dry at the time of the crash.
