ASP; Fayetteville man killed in scooter-vehicle collision Friday morning on US Highway 412 in Madison County

Hindsville, Ar.- A 77-year-old Fayetteville man died Friday morning following a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of U.S. Highway 412 and U.S. 412B West in Hindsville, according to a preliminary report from the Arkansas State Police.


Jan D. Dexter was operating a westbound 2022 Sprint scooter when it was struck by an eastbound 2023 Nissan at approximately 11:22 a.m. on January 2, 2026. The ASP report states that Dexter was attempting to turn onto US 412B West and failed to yield to the oncoming Nissan, resulting in the collision.


Dexter was pronounced dead at the scene. No injuries were reported for the driver of the Nissan. Next of kin have been notified.Weather conditions were cloudy, and the road was wet at the time of the crash, troopers noted.


The incident occurred in the small town of Hindsville, a rural community in Madison County along the busy US 412 corridor.


Senior Cpl. Mike Morgan of the Arkansas State Police is investigating the crash.
