ASP: Eighty-four-year-old Cove man dead from injuries suffered in Polk County accident last week




On Tuesday the Arkansas State Police posted a delayed preliminary accident report out of Polk County concerning the death of an 84-year-old Cove man on January 18th.


According to that report Marvin D. Harris was southbound on US Highway 71 just before 3:30 p.m. on January 18th when they 2018 Chevrolet he was driving enter the northbound lane and struck a 2023 Lincoln.


The impact caused the Chevrolet to rotate counterclockwise, coming to rest near the center of the highway facing north. The Lincoln left the roadway and struck a tree in the eastbound ditch.


The accident occurred within the city limits of Wickes.


Harris was airlifted to LSU Health in Shreveport where he later succumbed to his injuries.


The driver of the Lincoln was not listed in the preliminary report.


Investigating Trooper Cody R. Rollins noted clear weather conditions and a dry roadway at the time of the accident which resulted in the 18th roadway fatality for 2024 in the state of Arkansas.
