Officials with the Arkansas State Police have confirmed the death of a 41-year-old Fort Smith woman who died while being held in custody at the Sebastian County Adult Detention Center on Monday.
Marie Michelle Landrum, whose booking information at the SCADC list her hometown as Fort Smith, was transported to a local hospital just after noon on Monday. The Sebastian County Coroner's office was informed of landrum's death at approximately 12:40 p.m.
Landrum's body has been transported to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy to determine the cause of death. The Arkansas State Police is taking the lead into the investigation. According to historical booking information from Sebastian County, Landrum had been jailed in the wcadc five previous times prior to her arrest on Sunday for AAssault on a Family or Household Member in the Third DCegree. Prior to being jailed the first part of this week her last incarceration in Sebastian county occurred in March of 2017 when she was arrested for class b failure to appear and on a failure to appear felony stemming from the previous November. The most serious of those arrest came on January 9th 2016 when she was arrested for a possession of Ephedrine Pseudoephedrine. She also was arrested in 2016 on a hot check violation.
