Arkansas State Police: Sunday accident results in death of minor driver
The Arkansas State Police say a male minor was killed and a fourteen year old was injured in an accident that occurred Sunday near the 75-mile marker in Springdale.
Both of the unidentified minors were in a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado that was traveling north on the interstate when the truck hydroplaned on the wet pavement, spun counter clockwise before going off the west side of the road. The truck then struck a large sign support before coming to rest.
The driver of the vehicle died, while the the 14-year-old male was transported to the Northwest Medical Center for treatment of unknown injuries.
Investigating trooper Mike Morgan noted the rainy and wet conditions in his report as being a factor in the accident.
The death was the 96th of the year in Arkansas for vehicular fatalities.
