Arkansas State Police reports death of Russellville man after motorcycle veers from roadway in rural Newton County

A 56-year-old Russellville man was killed and a California woman was injured Saturday morning when a motorcycle left State Highway 7 near Jasper and overturned, according to Arkansas State Police.

The crash happened at 10:45 a.m. on Aug. 29 in Newton County. Anthony David Carrillo, 56, of Russellville, was driving a 2014 Yamaha northbound on State Highway 7 when the motorcycle left the roadway while negotiating a curve and overturned.

Both occupants were ejected. Carrillo was pronounced dead. His passenger, Sugey Madrigal, 49, of St. Colusa, California, was injured and taken to Cox South in Springfield.

Weather was clear and the roadway was dry. Carrillo’s body was held at North Arkansas Regional Medical Center. Next of kin have been notified.

Arkansas State Police listed the crash as the 310th fatality in the state this year.
