Arkansas State Police releases details on weekend crash that claimed Westville man after collision with Freightliner

A fatal collision occurred on Interstate 40 eastbound near the 20-mile marker in Crawford County on September 29, 2025, at approximately 12:29 p.m., according to the Arkansas State Police.
The incident involved a 2000 Mercury (Vehicle 1) driven by Ricky Riley, 62, of Westville, Oklahoma, and a 2005 Freightliner (Vehicle 2) operated by Keith Woods, 64, of Cedar Hill, Missouri. Authorities report that the Mercury attempted a U-turn on the highway, leading to a collision with the Freightliner.
The impact caused the Freightliner to catch fire.
Ricky Riley was pronounced deceased at the scene. His body is being held at the Crawford County Coroner’s Office, and his next of kin have been notified.
Margaret Shewmaker, 62, also of Westville, a passenger in the Mercury, and Keith Woods, the driver of the Freightliner, sustained injuries and were transported to Mercy Fort Smith for treatment
.The weather was clear, and the road conditions were dry at the time of the crash, according to Corporal Michael Bowman of the Arkansas State Police who was the lead investigator.
