Arkansas State Police investigating Sunday officer-involved shooting in rural Washington County

A 57-year-old Rogers man died as a result of injuries he sustained in an officer-involved shooting that occurred at approximately 10:36 p.m. Sunday, December 3, 2023. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) has requested ASP’s Criminal Investigation Division to investigate this incident. The incident occurred after a WCSO deputy attempted a traffic stop of a vehicle driven by Scottie Stacy on Beav-O-Rama Road in rural northeast Washington County. During the encounter, a deputy fired his service weapon, striking Stacy, who was pronounced dead at the scene.


A passenger in the vehicle was not injured.


According to information from Arkansas Court Connect at the time of the shooting was in the .fifth month pf a six-year probation period after a June plea deal for a March arrest for Possession of a Controlled Substance, Felony Fleering, and Tampering with Phyiscal Evidence.


The deceased was transported to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory, where manner and cause of death will be determined. The investigation is ongoing. An investigative case file will be presented to the prosecuting attorney, who will determine whether the use of deadly force by officers was consistent with Arkansas law.
