Arkansas State Police: Eighteen-year-old killed in single vehicle crash on I49 near mile marker 58 in Greenland

An 18-year-old driver was killed and his 18-year-old passenger was injured in a single-vehicle crash early Sunday morning, December 14, 2025, on northbound Interstate 49 near the 58-mile marker in Greenland..

.According to a preliminary report from the Arkansas State Police, Jesus Martinez Martinez was driving a 2013 Mercedes-Benz northbound around 5:30 a.m. when the vehicle veered off the roadway to the right and struck a tree. Martinez Martinez was pronounced dead at the scene.

The passenger, Rodrigo Gonzalez Silva, suffered injuries and was transported to Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville for treatment.Weather conditions were clear and the road was dry at the time of the crash.

The incident was investigated by Trooper Richard H. Surrette of the Arkansas State Police.
