Arkansas State Police: Deadliest year on record in state since 2007


The state of Arkansas suffered the most roadway fatalities in 2020 since the 2007 fiscal year, according to information posted by the Arkansas State police on Friday morning.


According to the Arkansas Stage Police Prelminary Accident Report website 611 people lost their lives in either fatal crashes or be being struck by a vehicle during 2020. In 2007, 629 was the final fatality count and in the intervening years the datn count never exceeded 590 for the year.


From 2008 through 2019, Arkansas averaged just 525 highway deaths per year.
