Arkansas/Mississippi authorities still searching for escapee/ convicted child rapist


An escaped Arkansas inmate and convicted rapist out of Franklin County is still on the run as of Sunday morning according to authorities with the Arkansas Department of Corrections.

The active search in southern Arkansas and northern Mississippi continues for Samuel Paul Hartman, 38. who admitted to having sexual contact with his stepdaughter on more than one occasion leading up to a rape conviction in 2013.

Authorities believe Hartman and another inmate crossed over into Tunica County, Mississippi by jet ski Friday afternoon. Search crews raided a trailer in an RV park on Carp Drive Friday night following sightings of two women believed to be Hartman’s mom Linda White and sister Misty Hartman who they say may have assisted in the escape. .


The Arkansas State Police stated that a farmer reported having seen two abandoned jet skis on a boat ramp. The sheriff’s office found the jet skis on the boat ramp near Mhoon Landing Park in Tunica County.


They also said one of the men fired a weapon at Arkansas Correctional officers. Hartman is believed to still be in the Tunica County area.

. The sheriff’s office says Hartman may be traveling in a white 2021 Chevy Z71 Trail Boss with an Arkansas license plate reading 398 ZVY or no tags at all. All of the suspects in this case are considered armed and dangerous. If you come in contact with any of the suspects, you are urged to call 911.
