April drug arrest results in six years in Arkansas Department of Corrections for Fort Smith man

A 61-year-old Fort Smith man saw a guilty plea on various charges turn into a six year prison sentence on Wednesday in Sebastian County Circuit Court.


Robert Lee Kursh was arrested Possession of Drug Paraphernalia - Ingest Meth/Cocaine, Possession of Methamphetamine with the Purpose to Deliver and Furnishing a Prohibited Article-Correctional Facility on April 13 and posted a $4750 surety bond the following day to gain his release.


Prosecutors dropped the Furnishing a Prohibited Article charge ion Wednesday as part of a the plea agreement and changed the Possession of Methamphetamine with the Purpose to Deliver to Possession of Cocaine. Kursh was also saddled with a Failure to Appear charge, which was also dropped, and was sentenced as a Habitual Offender.


The sentence consisted of six years total time and nine years suspended with all charges running concurrently. His Petition to Revoke slate was wiped clean with all PTR warrants recalled.
