April arrest on various drug charges sends felon back to prison with an additional 25-year sentence

A 49-year-old inmate already serving time in the Arkansas Department of Corrections for parole violations which revoked his parole was sentenced Wednesday to an additional 25 years with 55 years suspended for crimes committed in April of this year.

Michael Duane Key, who was sent back to the North Central Unit at Calico Rock in April to finish out previous stretches from 2014 drug and 2017 failure to register violations, was sentenced as a habitual offender after a plea deal on Possession of Drugs and Firearms Simultaneously, Possession of Meth with Intent to Deliver, Possession of Firearms by Certain Persons and Possession of Fetanyl..

When he was arrested back in April he was also facing Possession of Paraphernalia and Felony Tampering with Evidence charges according to booking information from the Sebastian County Detention Center. Key was arrested on April 19 and charged with the parole violation the following day.

The failure to register charge came from Crawford County from back in 2014.
