A 65-old Fort Smith man faces ten counts of Distributing, Possessing or Viewing Matter Depicting Sexual Explicit Content Involving a Child after a warrant arrest Friday afternoon by the Washington County Sheriffs Office.
Robert Demers, a registered sex offender whose booking information says he is a resident of the Ashbrook Apartments at 1022 Raleigh in Fort Smith, was arrested on a warrant that was issued on May 28 by the Washington County prosecutors office.
The information on the actual crime leading up to the warrant and arrest have not been posted in Arkansas Court Connect. That is a usual procedure by the courts to protect the identity of any potential victims. It is also unclear where the crimes were committed in Washington County.
The warrants states Demers possessed 391 images in his Google account, which was matched to his contact information on his social media information form as a sex offender.
Demers has just been a poster boy for out failed system of judicial rehabilitation in the state having racked up a number of prison stays for the likes of Felony Battery and Terroristic Threatening starting in 1998 and running through a 2003 conviction for Sexual Abuse in the Second Degree, indicating a violation with a minor.
That conviction was good for five years prison time, and on January 6, 2009 he was charged with several counts of Possession of Computer Child Pornography. The charges in that case were later dropped, and Chester the Molester has been able to hide his shady activities leading up to last week's arrest.
Distributing, Possessing or Viewing Matter Depicting Sexual Explicit Content Involving a Child is a Class C Felony in the state of Arkansas with each count carrying three to ten years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000 upon conviction.
