Alma man given three years total jail time on a myriad of drug-related charges in Sebastian County
An Alma man facing a dozen felonies picked up in three arrests since January of this year was able to snatch a sweet deal to add to the local prosecutors 97% conviction rate when he wrangled a three year sentence with five years suspended in Sebastian County Circuit. Court on Wednesday.
Thirty-year-old Cody Mitchell entered a guilty plea as charged in three separate cases and the bundled drug convictions for Possession of Methamphetamine, Controlled Substance I/II and Paraphernalia will all be served concurrently in the Arkansas Department of Corrections.
Court records indicate that things went south for Mitchell after a divorce in June of 2020. He picked up a felony arrest in September of 2020 for Failure to Appear, then added drug-related violations in January, February, April and May of this year. His most current arrest on May 11 included five possession of drugs or paraphernalia and three Class C Felony Failure to Appear charges.
A petition to Revoke charge was also withdrawn as part of the plea agreement and Mitchell was given credit for time served . He also will face payments to the court of $60 per month when he is released to fines and fees.
