Accident west of Jasper on Route H claims 66-year-old Kansas woman


A Weir, Kansas woman was killed and her husband was seriously injured in a one vehicle accident that occurred Christmas Eve on Route H approximately five miles west of Jasper in Jasper County.


According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, 66-year-old Deborah Thompson was a passenger in a 1999 Dodge F150 driven by her husband, Mark Thompson, 66, eastbound on Route H. The vehicle exited the roadway to the left, struck an embankment and overturned, ejecting both occupants.


Deborah Thomson was pronounced dead at the scene by the Jasper County Coroner and Mark Thompson was transported to Mercy Hospital Springfield by LifeFlight for treatment of his injuries.


Neither occupant of the truck wore a safety device, according to the MHP.
