Accident on State Highway 265 in Pea Ridge kills two Benton County residents on Sunday

A Sunday afternoon accident in Pea Ridge took the lives of two Benton County residents, according to information from the Arkansas state police.

Fifty-year-old Carrie Zingarella and 34-year-old Cody M. Baker, both of Pea Ridge, were killed in the one-vehicle accident that occurred on State Highway 265 / Hayden Road.

According to the Arkansas State Police Cody Baker, was the driver of a 2002 GMC traveling northbound on SH 265. Police said the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed when it attempted to negotiate a corner. The momentum of the vehicle caused it to do a 180° spin, exiting the roadway to the east and colliding with a tree on an incline.

Both occupants of the GMC were pronounced dead at the scene by the Benton County Coroner's Office.

Sergeant Todd Cornwell of the Pea Ridge Police Department worked the accident and said the weather was clear and the road was dry at the time of the incident.
