Accident on icy bridge in Benton County takes lives of Siloam Springs couple


A Siloam Springs couple died as the result of a two vehicle accident that occurred Tuesday just after 7 p.m. on a rural stretch of roadway in Benton County.


According to information released by the Arkansas State Police, 58/9-year-old Alan Fanning and 61-year-old April Fanning were traveling east on Sate Highway 18 at the Illinois River Bridge when the 2005 Lincoln Town Carin which they were traveling went into a spin on the bridge.


A 2020 Chevrolet Silverado traveling in the opposite direction struck the Town Car on the passenger side door. The Lincoln came to rest in the roadway facing east.


Corporal Taylor S. Elkins reported cloudy conditions and an icy/rain covered roadway at the time of the impact.


The death of the Faninng's pushed the state total for 2021 to sixty five fatalities.
