Texas man killed Tuesday in single vehicle rollover on I-40 near London in Pope County
A 42-year-old Texas man was killed Tuesday evening in a motor vehicle accident that occurred on Interstate 40 just west of the 78 mile marker.
At 5:54 p.m., the Arkansas State Police responded to a motor vehicle collision with entrapment that occurred on Interstate 40 near mile marker 78 just east of London in Pope County.
According to a report posted by the Arkansas State Police, the rollover accident involved one vehicle, a white 2007 GMC Sierra. when the driver of the truck, identified as James Willie Register, 42 of Gatesville, Texas, was traveling west on I-40 was involved in a rollover.
After traveling past the 78 mile marker, the GMC left the roadway to the right and entered the shoulder of the interstate. The truck continued to travel westbound striking an embankment causing the truck to go airborne, rollover and come to rest on its top.
Register, the driver and only occupant of the truck, was pronounced on scene by Pope County Coroner Danny White.
Other agencies who responded to the entrapment accident and assisted on scene included Pope County EMS 133, Pope County EMS Rescue and the London Fire Department.
At the time the crash, the weather conditions were windy and the roadway was dry.
